CPT at a Glance

Cyprus Public Transport started operating in Cyprus in July 2020 offering public transport services in the cities of Nicosia and Larnaca. With a fleet of 250 modern, brand-new, airconditioned buses equipped with clean Euro 6 engines, USB charging ports and 5G Wi-Fi, CPT transports over 12.5 million passengers per year performing around 2,500 trips per day.

A journey of continuous transformation

  1. July 2020

    CPT fleet at the start of operations in 2020

    In July 2020, Cyprus Public Transport began operations, taking over public transport services in Nicosia and Larnaca with a fleet of more than 200 brand new buses.

  2. August 2020

    Open milestone PDF

    In August 2020, the new Pame App was introduced, enabling passengers, among other things, to view the real arrival time of the bus and plan their route.

  3. May 2021

    Solomos Square Commercial Offices inauguration

    In May 2021, the Company's Commercial Offices were inaugurated in the heart of the old centre of Nicosia, at Solomos Square.

  4. January 2022

    CPT 5G Wi-Fi milestone graphic

    From January 2022, the entire fleet of buses and all CPT stations in Nicosia and Larnaca are equipped with a 5G Wi-Fi network, marking a first in Europe.

  5. January 2022

    Nicosia new network launch graphic

    In the same month, the new Nicosia Network was implemented, based on European standards, increasing connectivity and providing passengers with more route options.

  6. June 2022

    CPT Central Offices in Geri

    Cyprus Public Transport moved in June 2022 to its new privately owned Central Offices in Geri.

  7. September 2022

    Automatic ticket machines at a CPT station

    The first automatic ticket machines in Cyprus were installed in September 2022 at central stations in Nicosia and Larnaca.

  8. October 2022

    Nicosia General Hospital model bus station

    In October 2022, the Company inaugurated the first model bus station at Nicosia General Hospital, featuring a customer service office and an air-conditioned waiting area.

  9. July 2023

    Electric urban buses in Cyprus

    In July 2023, the first Electric Urban Buses in Cyprus were launched.

  10. July 2023

    Demand Responsive Transport pilot service

    In the same month, the pilot programme Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) was implemented with the aim of serving people with disabilities.

  11. September 2023

    Pame Express Park and Ride service

    In September 2023, the pilot programme Pame Express began, a Park & Ride service which offers comfortable and fast access to the centre of Nicosia.

  12. November 2023

    Makarios Stadium model station

    In November 2023, the second model station was inaugurated at Makarios Stadium.

  13. January 2024

    CPT driving simulator

    The first Driving Simulator in Cyprus arrived in January 2024 and is an additional training tool for the Company's drivers.

  14. February 2024

    Tamasos model bus station

    The third model station opened in Tamasos in February 2024.

  15. August 2024

    CPT electric minibus

    In August 2024, the Company's first electric minibus was launched to be tested on the roads and in the weather conditions of Nicosia.

Progress built around people

  1. Innovation that makes travel easier

    Over the past years the Company introduced innovative applications and new services with the aim to offer to its customers high level amenities and service equal to European standards. We introduced the Pame App, a new localised travel application, giving users, amongst other, real time bus arrivals and journey planning. We implemented the new Nicosia network increasing connectivity and offering passengers more route options and we installed the first automatic ticketing machines in main stations in Nicosia and Larnaca. Furthermore, we introduced the “Park & Ride” service which is a fast shuttle service towards Nicosia’s city centre and the DRT (Demand Responsive Transport) service, offering on demand transport services to a pre-determined group of people with disabilities within the city of Nicosia.

  2. Connected and cleaner journeys

    CPT’s entire fleet and all its stations are equipped with 5G Wi-Fi offering to the passengers a unique travel experience. Moving towards a more sustainable and cleaner environment, CPT acquired 5 12-metre urban electric buses. The latest addition to the existing eco-friendly fleet of electric buses is an electric minibus.

  3. Closer to every passenger

    Apart from relocating to our privately owned Head Offices, CPT also maintains a Commercial Office in the heart of Nicosia’s city centre and sales offices in 8 other locations in Nicosia and Larnaca. The Company also opened 3 new model bus stations with air-conditioned waiting areas and customer service offices.

  4. Our people power every journey

    A proud employer of around 600 devoted and committed employees, CPT encourages and promotes multiculturism, equality, inclusivity and diversity offering to its people training and professional development within the company. The acquisition of a driving simulator compliments the Company’s training plan which is an ongoing process.

    Focusing on continuous development, safety and excellence, CPT participates in research and innovation programmes of the European Union and is also certified with the International Standards ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001 and ISO39001 and the European Standard EN13816.
